Notorious American food chain, Wendy’s, might soon be touching your local high street.
Wendy’s has been a well-established part of America’s fast-food culture since the 1960s and executives have recently announced the restaurant chain is set to open on our side of the pond in the UK.
A spokesperson for the restaurant chain told Big Hospitality, “I can confirm that we will be opening a Wendy’s restaurant in Oxford.”
“Our first location is in Reading and we are exploring additional opportunities in the London area. The brand is excited to enter the UK with company-owned and operated restaurants this year, and we are looking for franchisees to grow with us across the United Kingdom.”
The burger chain is the third-largest in the world behind McDonald’s and Burger King.
Wendy’s is the latest in a line of American food chains to reach the UK – following WingStop and Taco Bell – and will add to the already competitive landscape of fast-food restaurants in the UK.
In other food-related news, Subway was recently sued for £3.5 million for allegedly not putting tuna in their tuna sandwiches.
