Last year, people from up and down the country rallied around Nigerian-born chef David Olalekan Kamson and he now needs our support again.

In September 2020, David made headlines after his food truck in Manchester was destroyed by racists. The news shocked many up and down the country, resulting in a GoFundMe page raising over £80,000 for David to buy a new van.

Since then, however, things haven’t improved for David as his council has rejected several of his applications to trade without alternative, leaving him unable to cook for the community.

David received yet another massive blow yesterday (March 17) after he was issued a letter informing him that his indefinite leave to remain in the UK had been denied, essentially trying to deport him. This is despite David living here, serving his community and being a tax-paying resident for 18 years.

It has also come to light that David’s landlord is now trying to evict him.

As you can imagine, all of these incidents have taken their toll on David who has reached breaking point and took to Instagram yesterday to share some very concerning posts.

Here are the ways you can help David to assist him in his cases:

  1. Email Greater Manchester local MPs, requesting justice and support for Lekan (David) Kamson)

2. Email Greater Manchester police, raising a complaint and demanding they re-open the case on the arson attack of David’s truck, Moston Suya.

3. Sign the petition

4. Donate to this GoFundMe to help David cover 3 months rent.

As David’s life is on the line this isn’t a matter that can wait so please show your support for David however you can!
