Instagram is currently testing a new feature, named Reels, which is drawing comparisons to TikTok.
Reels is a video feature that allows users to create 15-second clips, enabling them to add music and effects to their stories.
Based on the demo video, you swipe right to your stories page where you’ll find boomerang, super-zoom and other popular story modes that already exist and there you’ll be able to find Reels.
Although Reels doesn’t have as many features as Tik Tok, you can still adjust the speed of your video, add captions, music and more. You’ll be able to add these to your stories, highlights or send them via direct message. There’s also the chance to get your Reel on the new “Top Reels” section which will feature in the Explore tab.
Reels are only being tested in Brazil at this moment in time with plans to improve the feature from customer feedback before moving forward.
