South London singer-songwriter RAYE has finally gifted us with her highly-anticipated debut album, My 21st Century Blues.

Housing 15 original tracks including the chart-topping “Escapism” with 070 Shake, this LP is a candid body of work from RAYE who opens up on her experiences as a woman in the music industry, while also exploring topics such as misogyny and addiction.

In addition to 070 Shake, the album also features a collaboration with Mahalia on “Five Star Hotels”, as well as brand-new material and previously-released tracks such as “Hard Out Here”.

My 21st Century Blues has been in the making for seven years and comes following RAYE’s public fallout with her former record label in 2021. Since going independent, RAYE has continued to defy the odds and this album is a testament to her persistence and talent.

Speaking on the album, RAYE said: “My 21st Century Blues. My debut album. My ugly, complex, beautiful mosaic formed from broken pieces of glass from the last seven years of my life. This music is my medicine, my anxieties, traumas, and unfiltered thoughts. The music on this record empowered me to face my demons and has accompanied me through my bluest blues, crafted unapologetically and fearlessly with love and tears.

“Now I can only hope it might provide the same medicine it did for me for those who choose to listen. I can’t believe it is really happening – my first album.”
